“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Congratulations to our Hope Award recipients for the month of March, Captain Kenya Griffin and 1st Sergeant Dana Reaves!

These trailblazing women have made history—Captain Griffin as the first Black female captain in the Greenwood Police Department, and 1st Sergeant Dana Reaves as the first Black female to hold her position at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Their achievements go far beyond their titles. They embody the true power of service, showing unwavering dedication to protecting and strengthening their communities every single day. We honor their courage, leadership, and commitment to serving others.

The Hope Award

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

On Saturday, members of the Women for Christ Ministry came together to pack hygiene items for donation to “It’s 4 the Girls,” a mission supported by St. John’s Closet. This outreach effort helps provide essential personal care items to homeless girls and women throughout Anderson County. Through teamwork, the Women for Christ Ministry packed over 90 bags in an effort to offer dignity and care to those in our community facing difficult situations.

Last Sunday, our youth ministry presented its Black History Spotlight program entitled Honoring the Journey, a powerful and inspiring tribute to the achievements of African Americans throughout history.

The presentation highlighted the lives and contributions of several notable figures, featured an interactive trivia segment, and concluded with a moving praise dance to the spiritual “Wade in the Water.”

Special thanks to the dedicated youth of the House of Hope for delivering such an outstanding and heartfelt program.

The Hope Award

Congratulations to our January Hope Award recipient, the Honorable Mayor Terrence Roberts! New Hope proudly commends his outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and dedicated service to the city of Anderson.

Thank you, Reverend Frances W. Cox!

Saturday morning’s Women’s Missionary meeting was truly inspiring, highlighted by a powerful and timely message delivered by Rev. Frances W. Cox. She focused on Ephesians 6:11 (KJV), “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

The attentive and engaged expressions of those in attendance reflect how deeply the message resonated, making it a wonderful way to begin the day. We were truly blessed and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship.

To God be the Glory! Thank you, Reverend Cox, for your faithfulness and willingness to share with us. Most of all, we give thanks to God for blessing us with your ministry. Thank you to everyone who joined us.

A joyful day of new beginnings…

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

Happy New Year from New Hope Baptist Church!
